robert stuart-smith
Robert is a founding director of rs-sdesign, a co-founding director of the collaborative research practice - Kokkugia and a Studio Course Master in the AA School’s Design Research Laboratory (AA.DRL) in London. Robert studied architecture in the UK, France and Australia and holds a Masters in Architecture + Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture’s Design Research Laboratory (AA.DRL). He has practiced architecture in the UK, USA and Australia for the offices of Lab Architecture Studio, Grimshaw Architects, Arup's AGU (Advanced Geometry Unit) and Balmond Studio as an algorithmic design consultant. After experience working on high-profile public and cultural projects such as Southern Cross Station in Melbourne and Museo de Acero in Monterrey, Mexico, Robert's practice rs-sDesign was recently one of three UK firms invited to participate in the Kazakhstan Expo 2017 competition and was awarded a third place in a public vote for a design proposal for the Helsinki Public Library. Robert also specialises in computation and robotics for advanced design and fabrication processes. This is pursued within kokkugia and through academic research and teaching at a number of high ranking institutions including the AA School in London, RMIT University in Australia and WU in St Louis USA. Robert's kokkugia works have been acquired by France's prestigious gallery, FRAC, and exhibited and published widely in a number of seminal expositions. He is an internationally invited lecturer and critic.
